OnePlus One users in India have the option to keep the Cyanogen updates over the air, if they still are using Cyanogen as their OS. Last year in December Mircromax filed lawsuit against OnePlus, claiming that OnePlus One is violating the Micromax’s agreement with Cyanogen to use the OS in India. Regarding which OnePlus One was also banned in India for some time later it was lifted.
Now OnePlus India is saying that it has resolved all the legal issues with Micromax and the users who still using Cyanogen OS in their device can still keep receiving the over the air updates. However, OnePlus already have a replacement of Cyanogen OS which is Oxygen OS and most of the users are already opted that and we will see the same OS in OnePlus Two which is going to be released next year.
In their official statement OnePlus India quoted:
Five months hence, we are happy to confirm today that all legal proceedings have been resolved and the cases have been withdrawn through mutual consent. We hate donning suits and ties anyways. To make things sweeter, we would like to re-assure our customers and fans in India that our flagship phone, the “OnePlus One” will continue to receive OTA updates from Cyanogen in-line with our users in markets around the world.
